GREAT JOB CAST-LAURA AND I CONTINUE TO BE PROUD OF YOUR HARD WORK AND GREAT PERFORMANCES-KEEP IT UP!!!

SATURDAY-NOON CALL FOR 2PM SHOW/5:30PM CALL FOR 7PM

Cast-Remember no Food in costume
Cast-Please put cell phones away-When we start at 5pm they need to be put away or we take them
Cast-Knock before you enter a dressing Room
Cast-The staging Area was so LOUD tonight I could hear you from the stage-NOT GOOD
Cast-Keep the URGENCY of the show moving-The PACE was slow in siome scenes tonight
Cast-Treat people how you would want to be treated backstage-When we cast for next year for Lion King we also consider behavior backstage and how you treat others as well as performance.
Kenzie/Drew/Claudia-The reason you are all late to go to sleep when Mulan runs away is because you do not pre-set your carpet and blanket (PROPS) before show-SEE ME
Claudia-The lines of giving Mulan the Apple and Necklace in audible-Can't hear
Hannah/Autumn-Your soft lines of being defeated need to be louder-see me-Keep soft lines up-don't TRAIL OFF your lines

Great job cast-Laura and I are so proud of your great hard work!!!!You had a GREAT SHOW!! But to make it even better for Friday night: CALL 5pm

Cast-Make sure your going over your lines before the show and song lyrics. Jonah said there were lots of line drops. You should still have your script with you. Aimey Schmidt looks at her script before every show and during the show!!!

Circles still a bit sloppy on Written in Stone (Stage right)
Autumn-Look over your script and songs you had a few moments tonight where you seemed unsure of your lines and song.
Kenzie/Claudia/Cricket-Blocking the audience from seeing the Matchmaker scene HOUSE right. I gave Kenzie this note but you did not adjust-WORK BEFORE SHOW
Autumn you are not saying the line guessing you name before you settle on Ping-work
Christian dropped a few lines tonight (Avalanche and Changsong scene)
Avalanche scenes-LOTS of dropped lines
Hannah-Pick up your bureaucrat line-Quicker on cue

· John Carter – great singing!! I noticed this through the whole show! Yay!

· Cast- Good exit!

Hannah – Try not to adjust your hood

- Stay still behind the screen while you are waiting to say “cock-a-doodle-do”

· Katelyn – look over your shoulder to the audience and smile when you enter as a Mother

· SL circle – much better!

· Catherine, Kendall, John – stay focused during this number. You were looking around and it is distracting.

HONOR TO US ALL – This number sounds great, but needs more volume with the BEAUTIFUL singing! Some of you need to review words on pg. 36 of this number – “Ancestors help this girl…” I saw some of you not singing or looking lost – you probably know who you are. :)

Pg. 32- MULAN – say “Ouch is beauty supposed to hurt?” sooner. That is a really quick music cue.

Haley – hit woodblock with same number as strikes.

CAST – react to Mulan and the Matchmaker – some of you are just watching the action and not responding to it.

MULAN NOTES – Week of 07/11/16 – 07/15/16

MULAN JR. NOTES-

Pg. 15 Cody have sound affects for thunder, wind, marching, and avalanche.

Ancestors look out to audience when saying lines.

Pg. 20- Megann Halford is lost in song. Jenna and Mya please be in charge of Megann and helping her get the choreography correct. We trust you two because you know what you are doing.

Pg. 25- Autumn don’t do the pose until they yell Mulan! Strong Soldier Pose!

Pg. 26- Don’t look down Mushu.

Pg. 26- Mulan come out during Mushu’s last monologue, to get ready for scene. Dovetail scene exits and entrances.

Pg. 28- Drew be more Downstage in scene. Drew wait 2/3 count after every line to make it slower and lower your voice more for the character.

Pg. 28- Mushu work on the poses behind the tapestry. RUSHED loses comedy!

Pg. 38- Haley be serious during the scene when hitting the wooden block. You body should be positioned straight out at attention-Don’t slump-Focus out. Sharp focus out!

Pg. 42- Kenzie pick up the chair, instead of dragging it on ground. But thanks for taking it off-Can you bring it on?

Pg. 43- Drew stay in character throughout the show, even if something goes wrong. You can’t show your mistakes. Your old man’s voice is inconsistant.

Pg. 43- Good job Zoe on commanding the stage, continue to develop the character. We need to work your vocal-You are doing too much with mouth movements.

Pg. 43- Jaxon be a little louder on your line going to fight for father.

Pg. 44- A lot of people have “shy hands” meaning they hold their arms, or put their arms and hand behind them acting nervous. We will work on what to do with your hands. Don’t grab your arms.

Pg. 49- There should be no scripts on stage. (Hannah) Please call for line, and I’ll happily give it to you.

Pg. 50- Mushu play every punctuation and have pauses between your sentences. You’re speeding through everything. You look down a lot-Focus Mushu up and out.

Pg. 52- Ethan actually pick up Liu-Mya (WORK) in the air in front of you when talking to her.

· Thank you for learning and listening to the music outside of rehearsal! It has really paid off – overall the singing sounds great! There are a few numbers that we will continue to review, but I am so happy with the hard work so far!

· Continue to work on diction and enunciating EVERY WORD.

Pg. 18 – FATHERS – Please sing in the octave that is appropriate for your voice on “Father must protect the family…” Girls and unchanged boy voices should sing this as written, boys with changed voices sing ONE OCTAVE lower (NOT TWO OCTAVES lower).

Pg. 24 – “I pray to you, be kind to me” – you is SHORT, not held out like the first time on pg. 20

Pg. 29 – Yay! HONOR TO ALL (PT. 1 and PART 2) sounded great! Much better – thank you!

Pg. 87 – SHAN-YU – Better using “Onward!” instead of yell for your war cry. Let’s look at the other times you yell and add a word. Better on growling, but I still hear too much gravel in your voice on some lines. Be very aware of that so you can save your voice.

Pg. 91- LING – Please do not crack your voice on the line “Like tug of war”. I cannot understand this line at all.

Pg. 96 – Soldiers as girls entrance – work on your “girly” behavior. It should be funny, but realistic.
