Mulan Jr. Notes: FRIDAY RUN7/8

Pg. 17- Finish your line before walking back to pedestals-Ancestors. 

Pg. 18- Catherine, Katie, Kendall, and Elizabeth make to sure look out to audience.  Don’t look down. 

WHOLE SHOW-CHORUS/ENSEMBLE-REACT REACT REACT on everything that happens on stage!!! Really express yourself during choreography!!

WHOLE SHOW-Hannah-You need to work on your entrances and exits with Mushu-How does he feel coming on with each entrance and going off with each exit. You must let us know what he is always feeling from things the Ancestors/Mulan/Shang Fu/Shang say. Don’t look down with Mushu. Keep focus up and out. For every ACTION Mushu has there is always a REACTION BACK that he must then react off of. You can never be Hannah on stage-ALWAYS MUSHU-don’t fall into Hannah. Keep Physical

WHOLE SHOW-Autumn-Still work on soft side of Mulan. Mising the emotion you feel for letting your familydown and dishonoring your father-so you think. That is why you risk everything-for family honor. You are not playing these moments of relationship with Mother/Father or Grandmother. The song Reflection has a lot of emotion in it. You need to keep Mulan’s focus out to Audience. You sing ¾ to the right and also seem unsure at times onstage. You should have two physicals one for Mulan and one for Ping-We will work on this-this week.

WHOLE SHOW-Atlantis-The horse was put into the musical for comic bits-You must REACT Bigger to things Mulan and Mushu say and do-This will help Cricket. You need to be much bigger in your reactions on stage.

WHOLE SHOW-ANCESTORS-You need to work on your vocal-What do you represent as your ancestor. Work on body posture. Some of you slump when you stand. When you sit remember the audience is still watching you so sit up straight.

WHOLE SHOW-Devin-Dylan-Christian-You three need to be focused and be your characters every time you are on and reacting-reacting-reacting. Watch the movie for character study for your physical. How do you feel about Chang Fu-Shang? Mulan? Mushu? I don’t know because you’re not letting me know through your reactions.

WHOLE SHOW-Noah/Addy-CRICKET-React off of everything. Try to stay focused on stage and don’t move around so much. Stick with the horse-She will help you!!!

WHOLE SHOW-Mulan-Father/Mother/ Grandmother- You three need to work on your physical AND your LOVE For Mulan. Don’t be afraid to touch her or hug her. You LOVE your daughter!!!! Father and Grandmother we need to work on your physical this week.

WHOLE SHOW-SHANG FU-Ethan-Find more levels with Shang Fu then just YELLING all the time. You can be treacherous and not yell.

Pg. 20- Make sure to get in the circle part Jaxen, Zane, and Avery-choreography

Pg. 26- Autumn get into place sooner at the top of the scene not SR. 

Pg. 27- Autumn say the lines and actions out to the audience not SR-especially when you sing

Pg. 28- Drew get off your heels.  You need to work on a physical as the father. 

Pg. 28- Jennifer is going help work on your trip with you Autumn. 

Pg. 31- Girls begin the makeover before the song starts.  Bring it more downstage as well. 

Pg. 31- Autumn say your lines straight out, don’t turn in. 

Pg. 32- Have the chair further down stage GROOMERS.

Pg. 36- It was too far upstage, bring it down a little more on getting Mulan dressed. 

Pg. 38- Autumn fall on the slippers, that way Aimey’s line makes sense.

Pg. 38- Haley be face out to the audience, at attention, ready to strike the bell.

Pg. 38- More reaction from everyone during the exit.

Pg. 41- Autumn sing out, don’t sing profile.

Pg. 41- Drew work on your volume and character. You need a different physical and vocal.

Pg. 41- Claudia don’t look at Mark and I.  Be confident in what you are doing. 

Pg. 42- Autumn and Kenzie have a relationship.  We need to see a relationship between mother and daughter.

Pg. 42- The groups were to spread out.  Bring them in closer.

Pg. 43- Autumn stop Drew, then say your line.

Pg. 44- Drew get off toes and slower walk.  Kenzie be louder and ¾ out.  Claudia slower walk, be consistent.  

Pg. 52- There’s an idea Ethan of you picking up one of the soldiers straight up into the air-MYA, and saying your line.  See Mark for note.

Pg. 53- Soak up the moment, and play it big.  You are the center of attention-ETHAN.

Pg. 56- More reaction everyone when Mulan tries to do her manly walk.

Pg. 61- Mulan punch Shang before saying “Sorry about that.”

Pg. 62- Devin, Christian, and Dylan cross downstage more when saying lines. 

Pg. 64- Dylan hug Captain Shang during song.

Pg. 65- Dylan don’t get mad if messing up a line.  Play it off and go with it.

Pg. 72- Lines were skipped, review over the page.

Pg. 87- Autumn too far stage left-We need to work yours and Ethan’s fight.

Pg. 88- The scene was too far upstage for fight.

Pg. 90- Make sure the order is smallest to tallest that way you don’t block each other on stage: Devin, Dylan, Christian.

Pg. 97- We are going to work on the fight scene.

Pg. 99- Londyn be center stage.

Everyone be off book by Monday.  Study and review your lines over the weekend.
