Aladdin Notes 07/17/15

 

·         Shelby – need clearer diction and get off book

·         Are arms supposed to be bent or straight on “nights” and “days” in ARABIAN NIGHTS

·         Macy – you are profiling on “Jafar, Jafar” pg. 22

·         Shelby – deliver “Prince Dadu Rahn Rahn” downstage – when you say it upstage, we can’t hear the line. You can indicate him with your upstage hand.

·         Kynley and Payton – try not moving as much in your scenes – sometimes you steal focus from the scene.

·         Christian – I love your Prince walk – good job!

·         We need to work on ARABIAN NIGHTS to clean it up

·         Don’t look at your feet or at each other when you dance

·         Good timing in dialog between ONE JUMP #1 and ONE JUMP #2 – thank you for fixing that!

·         Hannah Cowan – you turned too early on “Thief!” – ONE JUMP

·         Jasmine – I would like to work with you to check pitches at the beginning of ONE JUMP REPRISE

·         Narrators – character choices, relationships with each other – sometimes you guys seem mad at each other or at something else.

·         Pacing – pg. 42-43

·         Marshall – your fictions is really improving! Please continue to work on that on EVERY line – I still sometimes have a hard time understanding you.

·         WHY ME – check mm. 19-24

·         WHY ME – start laugh at end sooner

·         CAST – DO NOT PULL ON THE CURTAINS

·         Guards – I did not hear 3 laughs on pgs. 46-47. Know where those are and remember to laugh

·         Lauren – pg. 47-48 need clearer diction

·         Ethan – look out more on FRIEND LIKE ME, not down at Aladdin – I can’t hear/understand you as well when you look down *this is a repeat note

·         FRIEND LIKE ME – picture on SL and SR during “Column A/ Column B” SL seems crowded – faces need to turn out – claps not together

·         Good job Londyn and Brynlee – your faces are always out towards the audience!

·         I don’t understand what Kynley is doing when the carpet is flying

·         Atlantis – good entrance! Your face/reaction could be bigger when you are pacing with Ethan about getting a girl

·         PRINCE ALI – people in procession listen to feel the steady beat

·         Cast- don’t fidget with your feet. If you are blocked to stay in one spot, stand still – moving steals focus

·         Hannah Cowan- you did not look engaged during PRINCE ALI

·         Marshall – practice diction on “Abu Dabi Ababwas?”

·         Aimey – you were blocking Marshall on pg. 68. Check blocking

·         Ethan – pg. 70 – “you lied” is dragging a little bit. Try another tactic to delay the “zing” of that line. Stuttering makes you, the actor, sound unsure.

·         Ethan – you are blocking yourself on pg. 72 – check blocking

·         Jasmine- great job on your vocals on A WHOLE NEW WORLD – great projection and beautiful tone!

·         Chorus entrance – A WHOLE NEW WORLD

·         WHOLE NEW WORLD- this number sounds great! Good volume, nice singing!

·         Marshall – wait until music is over to say your line on pg. 82

·         Good freeze Guards! Only Brynlee moved a little bit..

·         We need to work PRINCE ALI REPRISE ending with Chorus

·         Ethan – wait for music cue to end before you speak – the music is covering your line

·         Peyton – stealing focus on pgs. 90-91.

·         Wait for music to finish before saying lines on pg. 93 – music is covering the lines

·         Atlantis – good job! I am seeing better reactions – keep working that!

·         Check melody on mm. 10 A WHOLE NEW WORLD FINALE
