FRIDAY REHEARSAL/THURSDAY NOTES

Parents: Remember we have a 1pm cue to cue THIS SATURDAY that should be over by 3:00pm

FRIDAY-We will not run the show but run all the numbers and Choreography-No costumes or Costume pieces tomorrow. 1PM CALL FRIDAY

THURSDAY NOTES

Jaxen (Simba) Great job today. Continue to smile in I can't Wait to Be King-You should be excited with this song. Make sure when you go to sit on the ground when Abigail tackles you to lay on the white tape, sit on the white tape with Mufasa, Sleep on the white tape with Timon and Pumbaa. You need to be in a panic during the Stampede and scared when you get to the rocks ledge. Be horrified watching Scar let your day fall. REACTION-REACTION-REACTION to everything that happens on stage. Laura is going to work with your voice-Your voice gets to high in the mic and its hard to understand you. You are doing too much stomping in scenes-STOMP less. Your grabbing Abigail by the arm when you try to run off. Stay Center when you get up when Timon calls you over,

Abigail (Nala) Great job. Don't drop that line on your exit. Stay focused. Make fun oz Zazu. Be excited for Simba in Can't wait to be King and then be sad for him when his Dad is going to talk to him about going to the Elephant grave yard. Don't be blocked by someone in front of you

Devin (Zazu) Still need to really project those lines in I can't Wait to be King. You need to continue to explore Zazu movement and reactions bigger. You need to scold, insult, advise and protect mostly in the show. Protect Simba more URGENTLY with the Hyenas. Mufasa would be so upset with you if something happened to him. Good job with your puppet. URGENCY!!!!

Dylan (Simba) You need to have MORE FUN in Hakuna Matada-It just seems like your going through the motions. Simba has grown up now and he is used to Timon and Pumbaa and their ways so have more fun in that song. The reflection pool is better and your scenes with Nala in Can you feel the love tonight look really good. Continue to grow, Your biggest enemy is DISTRACTIONS. You have one of the most important roles in the show so you must STAY FOCUSED at all times or your role will suffer-That's on and off stage. PLAY YOUR SUPER OBJECTIVE with more URGENCY!!!

Kate (Nala) Kate your very hot and cold. Some days you really bring Nala to life when's she angry with Scar or Dylan but we need to see more of her Determination and Desire to go find help in Shadowlands and her leadership ability and to take control of situations with Timon and Pumbaa. Don't make her weak-She should always be reacting and her reactions should match-Simba-Timon-Pumbaa. Scar tells her how much she's grown up-That's a disgusting comment as you have no interest in being his so REACT off his advances. You doing great in Can You feel the Love tonight but go farther with your reactions and smiling at Simba. Sometimes I catch you looking at me while your performing. Try to keep your focus onstage and we will work all your scenes tomorrow. You are doing a great job! Keep growing!!! No Kate on stage ONLY Nala. Think about her Super Objective and play it with more Urgency. Careful not to play profile-Cheat 3/4 out.

Ethan-Mufasa-Don't second guess yourself. If you make a movement onstage with Simba or the Hyenas-OWN IT-don't second guess it. Theatre is all about making choices and sometimes you don't commit to those choices and you must make a choice and run with it. I don't see the subtext playing when Simba ask you if you'll always be together-You take a pause and go into your song They Live in You but what is in that pause to your son because the subtext in that pause is sad but wonderful with the message your about to teach him. URGENCY!

Atlantis-Sarabi-You are doing a great job but more Sarabi onstage and less Atlantis. Keep consistent with her physical and royalty. Work when Scar strikes at you. You should be proud beyond belief in both Circle of Life-That song says so much about your lineage and where it begins and where it's going!!!

Londyn (Sarafina)More reaction anytime your onstage with Nala-How do you feel about her? I know sad when she leaves in Shadowlands but what about every other time she is onstage with you. Are you letting the audience know she is your daughter? THink about all your scenes with her as Young and old Nala.

Brailyn (Rafiki) Try to keep your focus onstage-Try not to look at me when you perform. I know you want my approval but you know you have it 100% as you are doing a Great job. Keep working with that stick once we get you different gloves. WATCH TRAIL OFFS. The end of your lines must be as strong as the way you start them. Be more confident in the solo dance and more confident with your blocking-you know it now just ease yourself into it. Don't second guess yourself with your acting be as confident with your acting as you are with your singing. Stir in the reflection pool-Work with Zoey tomorrow again on the dance and stirring of reflection pool.

Zoey (Rifiki) Be as confident with your singing as you are with your acting. You also are doing a great job. Play with the stick more. You and Brailyn should work together tomorrow as you both have great things you bring to the character!!

Christian (Scar) A great character with many different shades. Try not to yell all your lines or yell when you sing. Don't rush off on your exits-play them devious and plotting-ALWAYS PLOTTING to get that Super Objective-URGENCY-What's at STAKE?. Watch rate of speech-Don't rush your lines and watch 3/4 upstage with your body. Don;t react to Zazu scaring you before he does. If the rocks are set wrong use that as part of your character being AGAIN mis-treated!!!

Brynlee (ED) Ed's head should be up close to your head and do most of the reactions for you. We will work Monday. The mouse can go into puppet head mouth. A look to Scar on the end of the scene should come from the Puppet head. When your laying down head should be up by your head. We will work puppet head on Monday

Hannah-Puppet head up close to yours. We will work Puppet head on Monday. Try to be onstage and be careful not to get distracted offstage. Go over your lines-you tend to change them but you have GREAT energy on the stage as Shenzi

Hyenas-Keep the laughing big-When are the Hyenas miserable-When are they plotting? When do they celebrate-Go over each of your scenes and react to the situation presented to the Hyenas. For ever ACTION the Hyenas have a REACTION

LIONESSES-How do you feel about Scar? Nala? Simba? Timon? Pumbaa? Make sure you let us know through strong expression and reaction in EVERY scene you sing or perform in. Sometimes the Lionesses do not react and you need to because your presence is so powerful on stage.

BIRDS: You look around way to much-Focus out to audience and sing-Don't look around so much and be CONFIDENT with your flight pattern. Go to new spot STAGE left in I can't wait to be KiNG.

Mallory-TIMON-PLay the bits for all there worth-Don't cheat them-Be confident-You are amazing when your confident-WATCH DICTION-got a little sloppy today.

Reagon-Pumbaa-Great you stopped looking at me-Your focus is now onstage-Great energy!!! Proud of you!

Animals-REACT-REACT REACT-EXPRESS-EXPRESS and tell the story how you feel in each SONG-You are SO IMPORTANT to the story because you ALL ARE THE STORY TELLLERS and you do a great job. Stay focused and SING at all times.
